Ambient chronicler Claire Rousay returns to Prague.

Ambient music as a personal diary and testimony of small everyday things that otherwise get lost in the passage of time. After a two-year hiatus, American musician Claire Rousay returns to Prague on 25 May. In the intimate space of Vila Štvanice, she will create her own room not only with the help of music, but also with the help of music, where she will present her album 𝘴𝘦𝘦𝘦𝘦𝘵 planned for April this year. On it, he moves from ambient to song form.

𝗰𝗹𝗮𝗶𝗿𝗲 𝗿𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗮𝘆 records practically everything and everywhere, so her rich collection of field recordings forms a solid foundation for her upcoming album as well. Sentiment (Thrill Jockey) was recorded in a variety of private locations, from bedrooms to lonely hotel rooms, reflecting feelings of nostalgia and sentimentality, but also reflecting on the use of guilt or sexuality. Modified vocals also make a return on the new recording, with Rousey adding meditative guitar passages alongside snippets of personal conversations and sensitive environmental recordings. “I want to belong to worlds and communities of people I respect. Like someone who uses a Fender guitar or dresses like Kurt Cobain. Emulate your heroes,” Rousay says of the new record, revealing another layer of his thoughtful ambient music with overlaps into hyperpop and songwriting.
