Heartnoize presents:
“Armed to my teeth. Under my shields I’m mortal. For your not to see the scar, I’m aiming for the heart first,”
sings Leipzig-based producer Zouj on the single from his forthcoming EP Metal. The musician, who will head to Prague for the first time on 17 October at the Bike_Jesus club, will bring with him a new record (to be released on 23 September) on which he explores the boundaries of contemporary pop and the sonic possibilities it offers.
The record will be released on the City Slang label, known for its uncompromising selection of global alternative music including Anna von Hausswolff, Boy Harsher and Son Lux. Circuit Sweet also mentions the new single: “Metal is a rich, glitchy triumph full of vivid tangents, intricate layers and catchy rhythms. The combination of these decadent textures creates an immersive landscape from the very beginning.”
Leipzig-based multi-instrumentalist Adam Abdelkader Lenox was formerly in the band Lingua Nada, but decided to leave there and swap guitar for an experimental electronic sound. “I try to make my instruments sound human by mimicking mistakes, accidents and tempo fluctuations, while doing my best to sound like a machine as a human being,” explains Zouj of his approach to pushing the boundaries of musical rules.
The forthcoming EP Metal is the second EP in Lenox’s hyperpop project and promises songs full of playfulness and vulnerability.
